So, it’s 2010. Happy New Year and this that and everything else.

I start my job tomorrow. Wish me luck. Despite the fact I’ve been doing this for EVAH, I’m still nervous. Possibly it’s the added responsibility? Possibly it’s because I feel like it’s not really happening – a year and a half of waiting means that I’m half expecting to turn up and it all to be a big practical joke.

Anyway, I thought I’d take a look back at the year. This is the first year I’ve been good at sewing, and the first year I’ve had a real bash at crochet. I didn’t realise how good I had gotten until I made a handbag in under 2 hours yesterday, whilst watching Miss Marple. Speedy!

So I played around on Flickr and looked at some of the stuff I made this year. It’s not much, really. I can’t believe I only made 4 quilts. I made many more quilt tops but I’m only counting them once they’re totally finished. A job for next year. You should also see the Death of Rats in there as well – I made him last month, but didn’t post a photo as he was a Christmas present for one of my best friends. He is currently doing duty as the fairy on a Christmas tree, apparently.

2009 Creations
1. Omally’s scar, 2. Birthday handbag, 3. Merry and Bright quilt, 4. London City Tote, 5. Buttercup Bag #1, 6. Pixie Bag, 7. Holiday Inn Quilt, 8. Baby quilt #2, 9. Baby quilt #1, 10. Ripple is finished!, 11. Stitchy Gingerbread House, 12. Cherry Beret, 13. SQUEAK, 14. Matilda does my University homework, 15. Patchwork Doggy, 16. Sleigh bells ring cushion

In looking over the year, I also realised this is the first year I’ve properly enjoyed the summer, and being outdoors. Normally I’d spend my summer inside, away from the horrible sunlight that stains my lily white skin but oh no! Not this year! This was the year of gardening AND DIRT WITH VEGETABLES IN IT.

Gardening 09
1. Yellow roses, 2. Purple/yellow Viola, 3. Ferris and Boo, 4. Lettuce, 5. Ferris in the garden, 6. Scrumping for Raspberries, 7. Red Anemone, 8. Broseley Meadow, 9. Attingham Park, 10. First crop of strawberries, 11. Broseley church, 12. One Perfect Red Cherry, 13. Heartsease Seed pods, 14. 10 second run – return journey, 15. Beans, 16. Yum Yum

Look at all that stuff I did whilst exposed to UV rays! 2010 is also going to be the Year of the Garden (and crochet hook, and sewing machine). Hopefully even more so, since Mum might be feeling more up to it. In which case she will be helping my Dad do all the heavy lifting and manual labour, obviously. Just kidding! Dad won’t be helping.

I don’t really make New Year’s Resolutions, because I never stick to them. But this year I’m just planning on limping my way to the end of this degree, enjoying my new job, and spending as much time as possible doing all the hobbies I love, with my family.

Despite everything we have been through this year, we’ve come out of it in one piece. This is particularly true of me and Ferris. Despite all my threats, I still haven’t put Ferris out with the recycling (even though he totally deserves it sometimes). This was the year that my Ferrisey braved the water for the first time. I’ve never been so proud. I didn’t even threaten him with a foot up his ass after that.

This is year three with my puppy, and it’s going to be the best yet.

Guess the medical implement

The baby quilts are almost done. They just need a bit of hand-sewing to close the turning gaps. It would only take five minutes to do, but progress has been impeded by this little man.

Ferris sleeping

Just look at him. I haven’t got the heart to tell him to naff off.

At the weekend we went to Attingham Park. They had a food fair there, but the only thing we bought was a cake from the WI stall, for my Granddad’s birthday. I had ice cream, it was great.

It’s rare that my phone doesn’t get any reception, so I was pleasantly surprised when we stood here and it just panicked and gave up. It searched for a bit and then just said ‘nope, you’re on your own, mate’.

I’ve got more medicine cabinet photos to show you, when I get chance to put them on flickr. But in the meantime, can anyone tell me what this is for?

Pass?
